LEEK CSOB have resigned from the North West Counties Football League.

The first team has applied for membership of the Staffordshire County Senior League next season and is moving from Harrison Park to the John Pointon sports facility at Cheddleton.

The Old Boys wound up their season in the NWCL with a 5-1 defeat away to Holker Old Boys on Thursday night.

The match was originally scheduled to have been played in mid-April but the club was unable to raise a team for the 248-mile round trip north owing to players' commitments.

Since then, the club has undergone a major reconstruction behind the scenes with a strengthened committee headed by former Steve Rutter as chairman, and John Hyde as vice-chairman.

Former chairman Ken Hill and long-serving former secretary Stan Lockett are back on board to strengthen the administration.

Dan Hyde, former club captain, has taken over the managerial reins, following the resignation of Brett Barlow towards the end of last season.
