Buxton Opera House opens it's auditions for this year's pantomime

Young dancers hoping for a big break are being invited to audition to be a part of a glittering festive show.

The producers of the Buxton Opera House pantomime are holding chorus auditions for "Jack and the Beanstalk" on Sunday, June 22.

Buxton Opera House's pantomime has become a showcase for talented dancers across the region and the juvenile chorus is now a popular feature of the production.

The auditions, which will be held at the Pavilion Arts Centre in Buxton between 3pm and 6pm on June 22, are open to young dancers with excellent technical ability, who are between the ages of nine and 15 and over 4' 8" in height. Candidates will not be eligible if they turn 16 before January 3, 2015.

Applicants must be available over the weekend of October 17-19 and should be prepared to take part in intensive rehearsals between November 17 and December 10. Prior to the first performance the chorus will be split into two teams and these teams will share performances until the show closes on January 3. A nominal fee will be payable for each public performance as a contribution towards expenses.

All those applying will need to register by calling Kerry Allsop at Buxton Opera House on 01298 72050 as soon as possible to request an application form.

Jack and the Beanstalk takes place from Thursday, December 11 to Saturday, January 3. Tickets are priced at £16, £18 and £22 and discounts and group tickets are available. To buy tickets or for more information call 0845 127 2190 or buy online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
