Butterton Wakes Day to take place on Bank Holiday Monday

VILLAGERS are making last minute preparations for the annual traditional Butterton Wakes which takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25.

The day will commence with a short service and crowning of the 2014 Wakes Queen, Amy Wigglesworth, at 1.30pm in St Bartholomew's Church.

This will be followed by a procession around the community led by Warslow Silver Band, who will be joined by the decorated floats from the WI and Kids' Club, to the village hall.

At the village hall grounds attractions and stalls including refreshments, a bar, entertainment courtesy of the Warslow Silver Band, ice creams, children's sports, grand raffle, tombola, cake stall and games will be held.

Car booters are welcome to the event but with outside pitches only, and they must supply their own tables.
