ESTATE agent Bury & Hilton has expanded its team with the appointment of Martyn Prince as its new Valuer.
For Martyn, who has 15 years of experience in the profession, it means a return to working in an area he knows very well.
He was raised at Hulme End, spent the first five years of his career based in Leek and now lives in the town.
He said: "Bury & Hilton is so well known in the Moorlands that it's the first estate agent many people contact and I'm delighted to be part of the team.
"I'm also looking forward to the challenge of valuing such a diverse range of properties – we handle everything from terraced houses to farms and small holdings."
Martyn added that an increase in buyer confidence, coupled with improved lending, had seen property sales increase in recent months.
But he stressed there was no sign of a property price "bubble" in Leek and the Moorlands.
He said: "Talk of the government trying to restrict the property market is frustrating because the market here is nothing like that in London.
"We haven't really seen property prices change for several years, but there is certainly a lot more interest from potential buyers."
Bury & Hilton Managing Director Charles Ball was pleased to welcome Martyn to the firm, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.
He said: "Not only has Martyn built up considerable experience in property valuation, he's very familiar with the area we operate in. He will be a real asset to the team."
Based at Bury & Hilton's head office in Leek, Martyn also expects to be involved in valuations for the firm's other branches at Cheadle, Ashbourne and Buxton.
