AROUND 850 properties in Leek were left with no electric at the weekend after a branch fell on a power line in a woodland area.
Some homes had no electricity for up to an hour after the incident, which saw a large branch fall on to a main power line in Ballington Wood, Leek, on Saturday evening.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution told the Post & Times: “The incident was down to the bad weather which caused a large branch to fall on a main power line in Ballington Woods just before 5.30pm on Saturday.
“Our engineers went straight out to the incident and got everyone back on within the hour by 6.30pm.
“The incident affected around 850 properties in Leek with some losing electricity completely.”
