Bonfire night goes off with a real bang

FAMILIES were out in force at the weekend enjoying a host of firework displays across the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Haregate Community Centre in Leek held a joint Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night on Thursday which saw lots of families enjoy the evening.

Centre manager Laura Cottingham said: “We had a good attendance and everyone enjoyed themselves.” On Saturday there was a display of fireworks at both Rudyard Lake and in the village of Stockton Brook.

The Rudyard Lake event was hosted by the Friends of Rudyard Lake, while the Stockton Brook extravaganza was organised by the village’s Scouting group.

Leek Rugby Club’s Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular took place at St Edward’s Park in Cheddleton on Sunday. Visitors could enjoy a barbecue and refreshments, as well as a free firework display.

Last night (Tuesday), a Bonfire and Firework event took place at Ashcombe Cricket Club in Cheddleton, hosted by the village's Carnival Queen Committee in aid of their regular charity of Cancer Research UK.

Alton Towers Resort still have its Fireworks Extravaganza coming up.

The local tourist attraction will be celebrating the end of the Theme Park season over three days, of November 8, 9 and 10, with the ultimate Fireworks Event.

Alton Towers will be open until 9pm each of the three days and visitors will be able to enjoy a day of rides and entertainment, as well as get to see an extravagant fireworks show.
