Blues maintain a solid start to their campaign

LEEK Town continued their early season good form with a hard-fought victory at Greenfields .

Leek finally took the lead in the 36th minute when skipper Sam Hall crossed for Shelley to beat the keeper.

After the break, Leek called the tune and in the 65th minute they increased their lead. Matt Bell curled a corner in to the near post, where Tim Grice powered in a header from close range.

Chances were then few and far between but almost on the stroke of full time, Drayton pulled a goal back through Paul McMullen – but it was all too little too late.

Deep into added time, Leek almost restored their two-goal advantage when a shot by Andy Kinsey was blocked in the six-yard box.

Kinsey followed up but hit the upright – then saw his third effort cleared off the line.
