LEEK Town have benefited from winger John Johnston's move to Crewe Alexandra, with the League One club immediately loaning him back to the Blues for the remainder of the season.
The talented winger, pictured, has won a short-term contract at the Alexandra Stadium which will be reviewed at the end of the season.
In the meantime, the 19-year-old will train full-time at Crewe's impressive Reaseheath training facility.
The move was completed on the FA's transfer deadline day and both clubs are reported to be delighted that the youngster will be given every opportunity to make it in the professional game.
Danylyk hits 300 milestone
Meanwhile, Blues midfielder Anthony Danylyk is due to play his 300th game for the club when they play Gresley at Harrison Park tonight (Wednesday).
Danylyk is now in his fourth spell with the Blues after originally joining the club in August 2002 from Stone Dominoes, spending five of the next six seasons at Harrison Park.
In between, he completed a season at Belper Town before enjoying a brief stint at Witton Albion.
In December 2011, he rejoined Leek after spending three and a half years with Conference side Altrincham, where he became team skipper.
Danylyk has twice been voted Blues Supporters' Player of the Season on his way to the 300th appearance landmark.
Johnson chasing club goals record
There was little for Blues' fans to cheer about in the game at Gresley just over a week ago but Jordan Johnson's consolation goal was more significant for him personally.
The strike took his tally for the season to 30, making him the first Blues' player to pass the landmark in a single season since Paul Kiely, who scored 33 in the 1999/00 season.
With 16 league games still to play, Johnson now has Darren Twigg's club record of 40 goals in a season (from 1993/94) firmly in his sights.
He is also now only three league goals behind Jon Froggatt of Belper Town in the race for the division's Golden Boot award.
The two players came face-to-face at Christchurch Meadow on Saturday, with Froggatt netting from the spot whilst Johnson drew a blank.
Froggatt now has 24 league strikes to his name whilst Johnson has 21.
Manager Lee Casswell commented: "Jordan has been fantastic. His goals have been a major factor in our success so far this season.
"Let's hope he goes on to score a few more for us and keep us in the hunt for promotion."
