A BUSINESS owner is appealing for the return of two advertising bicycles which have been stolen.

The machines were taken from the entrance of Getliffe’s Yard, Derby Street, Leek in the early hours of Sunday, September 15.

They were used to advertise the shop and cafe business of Mollie’s Maison.

John Edwards, whose partner Bridgett Edge runs the cafe, said: “The bikes had been chained together and were near the entrance of Getliffe’s Yard.

“The sign which is on one of the bikes cost us £250 alone.

“One of the bikes is a 1940s bike which we did up ourselves.” Mr Edwards has collected CCTV footage believed to be of the two bikes being taken by two males, with a female walking behind recording the theft on a mobile phone.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “An officer attended to carry out CCTV inquiries and from this it was identified the theft took place at around 2.15am on Sunday, September 15.

“The footage showed two men and woman tampering with the bikes, but unfortunately was not clear enough to identify them or be used as evidence.”
