A MARCHING band contest held in the Staffordshire Moorlands has been hailed as a success.
The Queen of the Moorlands Marching Band Contest took place at St Edward's Academy in Leek on Sunday and saw 11 bands from across the country take part.
The event, which was organised by the newly-formed Staffordshire Moorlands Youth Band, also included a range of stalls and refreshments.
A number of local dignitaries attended the event including county councillor Charlotte Atkins.
Band director Brian Pointon said: "It went very well.
The weather was good to us as we didn't get wet. I would like to thank everyone who supported the event. We hope to hold the same contest again next year."
The overall winning band was announced as the Thurmaston Marching Brass, and the Staffordshire Moorlands Youth Band themselves came runner-up in their class.
