A COMMUNITY garden has had a donation of a wheelbarrow thanks to a local fund-raising organisation.

John Hall Gardens in Leek, which is run by Rethink Mental Health, has a brand new yellow wheelbarrow, thanks to members of the Leek Inner Wheel.

The donation came as part of the National Inner Wheel's 'Wheel Project', is an initiative to help people in need as part of the organisation's 90th anniversary year.

Leek's Inner Wheel president Anne Ward said: "We are very happy to present this wheelbarrow to the John Hall Gardens.

"We held a soup luncheon to raise funds to purchase the item, which we did from PJS Machinery in Buxton Road, Leek."

Sue Smith, mental health recovery worker at John Hall Gardens, said: "This donation is fantastic. We very much appreciate any help that we can get.

"We rely on such generous donations to keep the gardens going."
