AN INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed show will be coming to a city venue next year.
The National Theatre's production of War Horse is to visit The Regent Theatre in Hanley for a three-week run from Wednesday, September 24 to Saturday, October 11, 2014.
The first major tour of War Horse in the UK and Ireland started in September 2013 and has since been playing to packed houses in Plymouth, Birmingham and now at the Lowry in Salford.
The company is looking forward to performing in Stoke-on-Trent in 2014, and tickets have now gone on general sale. War Horse is the powerful story of a young boy called Albert and his beloved horse, Joey, who has been requisitioned to fight for the British in the First World War.
Caught in enemy crossfire, Joey ends up serving on both sides during the war before landing in No Man's Land, while Albert, not old enough to enlist, embarks on a treacherous mission to find his horse and bring him home.
A remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship, War Horse features ground-breaking puppetry work by South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing and galloping horses to life on stage. War Horse has been seen by over four million people worldwide since its premiere at the National Theatre in 2007 and continues its hugely successful run at the New London Theatre in the West End.
A major tour of North America continues through 2013/14, and a new German language production entitled Gefährten opened in Berlin in October 2013.
Tickets for War Horse at The Regent Theatre are available by calling the venue's box office on 0844 871 7649 or visiting www.atgtickets/com/stoke.
