SHOPPERS were transported back in time in Leek town centre with a special themed event.

A Victorian themed market day took place in Leek and saw traders dressed up in periodic attire.

The event, which was organised by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, also included street entertainers such as Morris Dancers and a ukulele band.

It also included Victorian carriage rides, a Victorian organ grinder, chestnut vendor, and carol singers.

The main event took place in the Market Place and in Derby Street, while a Victorian Christmas Bazaar took place in the Nicholson Institute in Stockwell Street, where shoppers were able to find a wide selection of traditional and designer gifts.
