A HERITAGE railway pulled out all the stops to celebrate all things steam at the weekend.
The Churnet Valley Railway, which has stations in both Cheddleton and Kingsley & Froghall, hosted its annual Winter Steam Gala on Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend-long event featured a selection of locomotives working between Froghall and Cauldon Lowe.
Other attractions throughout the weekend included the re-opening of Ipstones Loop; a three train timetable; all passenger trains running between Froghall and Ipstones calling at all intermediate stations; a 19-mile round trip through the stunning Staffordshire Moorlands countryside; Cauldon Lowe branch featuring gradients ranging from one in 40 to one in 59; Driver for a Fiver at Cheddleton Yard with Beyer-Peacock 1827; tours of the loco shed and C&W workshop; restorations of 5197 and E1878; and the first steaming of TKH 2944 around Cheddleton Yard.
