SIXTH form students have been celebrating the festive season in style.

Westwood College held it's first 'Snowball' on Friday, December 6, which was open to Leek Federation Sixth Formers who attend Leek High School and Westwood College.

Guests were welcomed to the ball with 'real' snow falling upon them from the archway at the Old Hall campus of the college as they made their way to the student study area for the main event.

The festive evening, which was sponsored by Asda, Co-op, Sainsbury's and Morrisons, was organised by four members of the sixth form student union, along with staff members Deb Allen and Dan Owen, who is Director of the Leek Federation Sixth Form.

Sixteen-year-old Megan Green, who helped organise the Snowball, said: "Our first snowball was an excellent night where we saw the sixth formers come together in Christmas celebration.

"It was fun having the snow machine and having DJ Nick Sheldon providing the music was great.

"I'm very thankful to everyone who helped to organise the event and I'm glad that it was so enjoyable. It was all about welcoming the new sixth formers and we hope to do it again next year but bigger."
