RESIDENTS at a nursing home have been blowing away the winter blues with a 'day at the seaside'.

Staff at Beech Dene Nursing Home in Leek pulled out all the stops on Saturday for residents, and their family members, to be able to enjoy a seaside themed day.

The residents at the Westwood Roa d home themselves had been getting creative over the past few weeks, to produce the décor for the day, which included bright coloured bunting as well as seaside murals of Blackpool Tower and donkeys.

Seaside goers were able to enjoy having a go at a coconut shy, making and then eating popcorn, and having a traditional seaside treat of fish and chips.
