  • Santa will be visiting many places across the Staffordshire Moorlands in the run up to Christmas Day. Here is Jane Powell and her son Marek, from Leek, who visited Santa in Leek town centre earlier this month.

  • Santa will be at Foxfield Railway this week.

  • There will be a Victorian Market in Leek town centre this weekend. Pictured is Parrick Cooke at last year's event.

  • The popular music band of Kathleen Turner Overdrive will be playing at the Quiet Woman in Leek on Christmas Eve.

Coffee Morning 9am-1pm at Trinity Church, Derby Street, Leek. Hosted by the Friends of Ladderedge Country Park. To include home-made cakes and stocking fillers.

Age UK Leek Men's Group 1.30pm-3.30pm at Haregate Community Centre, Leek. A social activity group with lively chat about a topic of interest. Tea, coffee and biscuits. Cost: £2 each. Details: 01782 286209.

The Railway Children 7.30pm at The Cheadle Community Theatre, The Cheadle Academy, Station Road, Cheadle. The first production of CATS Youth. The Railway Children – The Musical. Also on Saturday. Leek Choral Society 7.30pm at All Saints Church in Compton, Leek. To include solo performances, songs by the choir and audience participation. Rolling Stones Night 8pm at The Foxlowe Arts Centre, Market Place, Leek. A band of talented local musicians, Jumping Jacks From Flash, has been put together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones performing in Leek. Tickets £10 (to include pie and peas) from the venue.

Saturday December 21

Victorian Market 9am-4pm in Leek town centre, Market Place, Derby Street and public realm area. A Christmas extravaganza in traditional Victorian style. To include Victorian Carriage Rides, Victorian Organ Grinder, Chestnut Vendor, Morris Dancers and carol singers.

Santa in his Christmas Cottage 12noon-3pm at Biddulph Grange Garden, Grange Road, Biddulph. Free event although normal admission charges apply. Details: 01782 517999.

Santa and Steam Churnet Valley Railway, near Leek. Also on Sunday and Christmas Eve. A wonderful way for all the members of the family to begin the festive season. As Santa strolls through the garland-filled coaches with a gift for every child, parents and grandparents can relax with a mince pie and glass of sherry. Christmas Eve
