LOVE was certainly in the air when pooches were given the chance to appear in a special 'Doggie Kissing Booth'.

Pet accessories shop Dougal's Den, in Stanley Street, Leek, played host to the special Valentine's picture opportunity as part of this month's Sunday Supplement event in the town.

Business owner Lynn Haigh said: "Celebrating the month of love with your dog, we decided to create a Doggie Kissing Booth where people could have a picture taken – or take their own picture – of their dogs in the kissing booth.

"We asked Shabby Love, who have just opened a shop opposite us in Stanley Street, to make us the booth, and they made it with a heart shaped frame.

"We decorated the booth with hearts and flowers and on the day we had over 15 doggies who visited with their loved up owners to have their picture taken. We had doggies from Knutsford, Biddulph, Uttoxeter, Newcastle, Sutton Coldfield and as far as Melton Mowbray coming to have their picture taken in the Kissing Booth.

"We asked for a small donation and raised £50 for Moorlands Dog Rescue."

Lynn raised £250 for the Ashbourne animal welfare organisation of The Ark at Christmas by asking 'Santa Paws' to host a similar picture booth.

Lynn said: "We have our thinking caps on for the next event as these events are proving very popular, and we love the fact that we can have a bit of fun but on the more serious side at the same time help our local rescue groups."

Dougal's Den have a wide range of Valentine's themed gifts for dogs on offer for pet lovers to treat their canine friends.
