A HOUSING association has been shortlisted for two regional awards.
Your Moorlands is in the running for the TPAS Central awards, Young Tenant of the Year, and Equality & Diversity.
The TPAS awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations that have made a positive impact on their community.
In the Equality and Diversity category Your Moorlands has been shortlisted for its 'Get Involved!' project.
This provides opportunities for adults with learning disabilities or mental health issues to play a valued role in their community while gaining new skills and experience, and improving their own well-being.
Get Involved! is delivered in partnership with a number of stakeholders in Staffordshire Moorlands including Support Staffordshire, John Hall Gardens, Borderland Voices, Leek Town FC Ability Counts, all in Leek, and BRIC, in Biddulph.
Nick Grubb, Head of Your Moorlands, said: "Get Involved! has been a really positive experience for everyone at Your Moorlands and our partners who have taken part.
"The project has increased access to local facilities, raised awareness, challenged perceptions and delivered benefits to staff, participants and the wider community."
Your Moorlands resident Kayleigh Johnson has been shortlisted in the Young Tenant of the Year for her contribution at Biddulph Resource and Information Centre (BRIC).
The 23-year-old first got involved with BRIC as a teenager, using the IT facilities to complete her homework and have meals in the Community Café.
When BRIC started a Work Club Kayleigh volunteered and as a result of the experience she gained Kayleigh has now secured full-time employment as a Care Assistant.
She continues to volunteer at BRIC in her free time.
The TPAS Central awards Final will be held on 7 March at St Johns Hotel, Birmingham.
Winners will go forward to the national final which will be held later in the year.
