A LEEK woman has released her debut mystery and suspense novel.
Author Maureen Gregory, pictured, has released Beware the Seventh Wav with Solstice Publishing as part of its Horizons collection.
The novel is set within the Derbyshire and Staffordshire areas. Maureen, who lives in Winkhill, near Leek, with her husband, said: "I mention The Winking Man, and the town of Ashbourne. Otherwise I have alluded to different places, describing the towns, villages and surrounding countryside without naming particular areas."
Having previously combined writing short stories with a career in psychiatric and community nursing, Maureen now writes full-time.
A second novel, set to entitled 'Killing Mrs Panama' is a work in progress and is due for release later this year.
In Maureen's first novel, deceit, obsessive love, betrayal and murder are threaded alongside the fabric of normal life.
In the story Emma is convinced she has found the man of her dreams, until she suspects her lover may have a darker side.
Was he a cold, calculated killer or a victim in someone else's deadly game? Beware the Seventh Wave is available as an e-book or in paperback from Amazon.
Mum-of-two Maureen, who is in her 50s and also has a love of horse riding, said of her first novel: "Having my novel published is a great feeling.
"I can't wait to finish the second one now.
"I've definitely got the writing bug.
"Good job really with all this rain as I'm not doing too much riding."
