HAIR and beauty students have been pulling out all the stops to raise cash for charity.

The students at the Leek campus of Buxton and Leek College raised £220 for charity after carrying out cut price hair and nail treatments in their Bodyworks training salon.

The fund-raiser was inspired by regular client Di Baker, from Ipstones, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. The money raised will go to the North Staffordshire branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Di, aged 47, is aiming to take the plunge with a sponsored skydive to mark her 50th birthday and daughter Bessie, aged 18, who is a beauty therapy student at the college, wanted to do something to help the cause.

Bessie said: "We had an amazing response from people who enjoyed a wash and blow dry or manicure for just £4, and we saw quite a lot of new clients at our Stockwell Street salon during a busy morning. We want to thank everyone who supported us."

The salon will re-open on January 7 after the Christmas break, when clients old and new are welcome every Monday and Thursday evening and all day on Friday.

Treatments on offer include ladies' and gents' hairdressing, colouring, hand and nail treatments, waxing, massage and facials. Call the training salon on 01538 385184 for more information or to book an appointment.
