THE first coffee morning held by a new friends group has been hailed as a success.

The newly-formed Friends of Ladderedge Country Park hosted the refreshment bonanza before Christmas at Trinity Church in Derby Street, Leek.

The event, which included offerings of tea, coffee and homemade cakes, raised more than £90.

Chairman of the new group, Anni Hollings, who lives in Ladderedge, said: "Thanks to all for the tremendous efforts and it was a lovely time.

"Several people took more information away about the Friends so it was a job well done.

"Thanks to Philippa, Richard and Pam for organising it and all those who helped out."
