A SHOE store is to continue to offer the same service and brands of shoes – even though it is to have a new name.

Bells Shoes, which opened in Leek in November 1984, is to be renamed John Martin Shoes as of February 5.

The name change comes as Bells Shoes director Edward Martin will be passing the Leek shop, at the bottom of Market Place, back to his brother John.

Their father Keith Martin opened the family business in Leek 30 years ago with the help of John.

Edward joined the business in 2004 when John passed the Leek shop to him, while he concentrated on his two Clark Shoes franchise shops in Buxton and Macclesfield.

John explained: "Edward's web business has grown over the years and so I am having the Leek shop back.

"Edward also has a Bells Shoes shop in Buxton which he will continue to run.

The shop will close on January 28 for one week while a minor refurbishment to the property is carried out.
