A RECORD number of teenagers made their stage debut recently at Leek High School's annual House Performing Arts contest.
More than a third of the school got involved in an 80s themed show of talent which packed the school hall on two nights.
Judges, including former students Simon Ainsworth and Julia Mosley, had a really tough time as students from Brough and Brindley houses battled it out.
Brindley was finally pronounced the winner after the first two counts resulted in a draw and results were the closest on points ever.
Chloe Hall was voted outstanding female performer while Sam Belfield took the title of outstanding male.
Leek High's head of music, Katie Raisbeck said: "The event was really fantastic.
"The standard of performance was incredibly high this year and I think all the students did themselves proud on both of the evenings. What particularly pleased me was to see so many boys taking part.
"I think we set the scene last year when younger boys took part in some of the dance and drama routines.
"The students were inspired by what they saw and it encouraged more to have a go themselves.
"We now look forward to carrying this momentum on the next events in the New Year."
