Lots of celebratory events will be taking place in a Staffordshire Moorlands village this weekend.

The Meerbrook Flower Festival will start at 7.30pm tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, with a Blessing Service at Meerbrook Church, near Leek.

The church will be open from 11am until 8pm each day until Tuesday, and from 12.30pm on Sunday.

There will be a Dance in the Village Hall to Eric Reid at 8pm on Thursday; and a Scavenger Hunt at 7pm by Village Green Committee on Friday, which will cost £5 per car.

A special Flower Festival Sunday Lunch will be held at the Village Hall at 12.30pm. Bookings for this can be made by calling 01538 372081.

And finally for the flower festival, a Three Choirs Concert will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday at the church.

The evening entertainment will include music from the Churnet Valley Gospel Choir, Red Lion Choir and the Young Phoenix.

Refreshments will also be available throughout the festival at the village hall.
