Roadshows have been taking place around Staffordshire to tell people about the new European LEADER funding that should be available next year.

Support Staffordshire (Staffordshire Moorlands), which is based in Leek, working with Staffordshire County Council, has been asking those running small businesses or involved with community activity in the rural parts of the county what issues they face and what ideas they have that could support jobs and growth with some European assistance. Ian Jackson, Staffordshire LEADER Programme Manager said: "Over the four evenings we have met a fascinating range of people with lots of great project ideas from innovative ways of selling farm produced beef and pork, to joint marketing of community events to encourage tourism.

"These ideas will help to shape the plans for the new funding and ensure that they reflect the needs and opportunities within rural Staffordshire, to give a distinctive feel to the strategy we have to submit to Defra in September."

There is still chance to provide ideas and get involved by going to the LEADER website www.staffsleader.org.uk
