A DAY nursery in Leek has been doubled in size – will be opening the venue's doors to the public this weekend for an open day.

Zipadee Day Nursery opened in October 2011 at Roche Villa in Buxton Road.

It offers a Day Nursery, Pre-School and Holiday Club for children up to the age of eight-years-old.

Owner Emma Conning has now had the nursery expanded with additional rooms in, what was a disused building at the bottom of the venue's play-ground.

She said: "The building was on the site but not being used, and I wanted to create more of a free-flow for the children to learn independence before going to school." Emma secured funding from Staffordshire County Council for some of the work

When Emma first opened Zipadee almost three years ago, she had eight children in her care. Now the nursery has more than 70 children on its books.

Emma now employs 11 staff, some of whom worked at Leek Day Nursery until it closed recently.

Emma, and her team will, this Saturday, April 26, be inviting members of the public to take a look around the expanded and new look nursery.

The event will run from 10am until 2pm.
