Wednesday July 23

Balsam Bashing 10am-3pm at Barbery Gutter, Oakamoor. Meet at Forestry Commission Car Park by Ramblers Retreat. Details: r.whiting@staffs-wildlife.org.uk or 07960 875157.

Creation Station Every Monday at 9.45am and 11.15am at Spout Coffee Shop, St Edward Street, Leek. (Babies and toddlers). Plus every Wednesday at 10.30am at Beresford Children's Centre (Babies only - up to 18 months). Different arts and crafts activities each week. Cost: £4.50 a class per family. Community Fun Day 11.30am-4pm at Haregate Community Centre, Queens Drive, Leek. Hosted by ELITE to include: include a tombola, raffle, cupcakes and shakes, jewellery sale, arts and crafts among various other activities throughout the day.

Police Surgery 3pm-4pm at The Old Tea Rooms, Hollow Lane, Cheddleton. Residents are invited to go along and discuss issues that matter to them and the community with local officers. The surgeries are an opportunity for residents to get involved in setting police and partnership priorities.

Churnet valley Way 10.30am-4.30pm meeting at the Forestry Commission Car Park by Lords Bridge and Ramblers Retreat. Walk the fourth section of the Churnet Valley Way from Lords Bridge( near Oakamoor) to the confluence with the R.Dove at Rocester. Details: 07960 875157.

Monthly Bric-a-Brac Sale 10am-midday at the Conservative Club, Cheadle. Bargains galore - pottery, jewellery, books, glassware, clothing, bedding, etc. Tea, coffee and biscuits available. Free admission. All proceeds to help the waifs and strays in the care of Cheadle Animal Welfare Society.

Guided Walk 10am meeting at the Tourist Information Centre, Market Place, Leek. With Leek and the First World War by Bill Cawley. Cost £5. Every Saturday until end of October.

Manifold and Soles Hollow 11am meeting at Manifold Valley, Hulme End, near Hartington. An energetic, high level nine mile walk around the Manifold and Hamps Valley. Cost: £2.50 per adult. Details: 01782 302030.

Darlek Ressurection At Churnet Valley Railway, at both Cheddleton and Froghall Stations. Futuristic happenings abound as the railway opens its portals to a Sci Fi adventure weekend with a host of super heroes ready to meet visitors.
