A musician who has toured the world will be making a welcome return to the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Phil Bates, pictured above, will be the next guest musician at the Folk At The Lion hosted by regulars Herbs and Leekies.

Phil has toured the world with the 'Electric Light Orchestra Part Two' and The Orchestra but on his latest CD he highlights Leek as one of his favourite places to gig.

Organiser of Folk At The Lion, Dave Rhead, said: "Stripped down to an acoustic guitar (with a few effects) Phil is as relaxed and comfortable as if playing to a packed stadium.

"With a mixture of his own songs, Beatles standards and of course a sprinkling of ELO classics it is as if he is playing to a few friends in his front room.

"This is going to be a night not to be missed by fans of acoustic music."

Doors will open for Folk At The Lion at 8pm for a 8.30pm start on Thursday, March 13.

Tickets, limited to 40, are £10 and available by calling 01538 385260.
