A PUPPET festival is currently taking place in a Derbyshire town.
This week sees the return of the Buxton Puppet Festival, a co-production by Buxton Opera House and Funny Wonders.
As usual there is a host of colourful workshops and performances taking place at a variety of locations in the town.
Performances in Pavilion Arts Centre have already included: Aladdin and A Real Fairy Story.
Today (Wednesday, August 6) there is Ticky, Ticky, Boom, Boom, which is a traditional tale from Jamaica that tells the story of a cheeky spider Anancy who doesn't like to do much work, but what happens when the monkey tries to help?
Other puppet shows still to come include The Three Billy Pigs tomorrow (Thursday, August 7 at 2pm) a light hearted storytelling with live music and a little bit of eco awareness, and Dangerous Dave also tomorrow at 7pm which takes a journey with a miniature superhero fighting his way out of a wet paper bag into a domestic food processor.
For themes of a conjugal nature don't miss All at Sea with Noah, telling the story of Noah and his wife who start to bicker after getting instructions to build an ark (Friday, August 8 at 2pm).
Outdoor puppet shows are also incorporated in the festival with A Melange of Marvellous & Magical Monsters on the Pavilion Gardens Bandstand, with creations from Buxton Infant School Puppet Club (Friday, August 8 at 3.30pm).
Or why not enjoy a walk in the peaceful English countryside and see creatures from every continent as well as some of our own British wildlife (Round The World Safari on Saturday, August 9 at 11am and 2pm).
As always there are free puppet shows to enjoy on the Buxton Opera House forecourt: The Wychwood Puppets (today at 11am and 3pm), The Man in the Moon (tomorrow at 11am and 3pm), The Blue Dragon (Friday at 11am) and Peculiar Puppet Pantomime (Friday at 3pm).
