A CITY pub has handed over a £1,850 donation to a special school in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Four-year-old Chloe Davidson, who attends Horton Lodge Special School in Rudyard, near Leek, has inspired staff and regulars at The Traveller's Rest in Middleport, where her grandparents visit regularly with Chloe, to raise cash for her school.

The pub has run a number of events to raise the cash for the school.

The events have included: a darts marathon, a charity football match, sponsored swim, female impressionist Dame Berta Comedy Evening, as well as bingo nights, quiz events, and raffles.

Chloe's mum, Mandy, said: "I think it is absolutely great that the pub has raised so much money for Chloe's school.

"I knew that they were doing one event to raise money for Horton Lodge but then they just continued to raise more and more money."

Chloe, who has Cerebral Palsy, spends time at The Traveller's Rest with her grandparents, Julia and Kenny Wright, and has even been teaching the regulars sign language which she has been taught at school.

Mandy added: "Chloe started attending the Stay and Play sessions at Horton Lodge in April last year and has then moved into attending the school itself."
