A floral art tutor has led the way for a colourful display at a village this weekend.

'This is Our Song' will be the theme for this weekend's Flower Festival at St Edward's Church in Cheddleton.

The display of colour is being produced by members of the church's Flower Arranging Team which is led by Mary Williams.

Maggie Westhead, a member of the flower arranging team, said: "Mary Williams is a very skilled leader and teacher of our flower arranging team at St Edward's Church in Cheddleton.

"Mary has trained us to be able to produce really beautiful arrangements. The Flower Festival which we are working on is our most ambitious to date and we are all planning, with Mary's help and advice to express hymns in flowers for 'This Is Our Song'."

The Flower Festival is being hosted in memory of Jeanne Jones, a former member of the Flower Arranging Team who passed away last year.

It will take place in St Edward's Church in Cheddleton from Friday, June 20, until Sunday.

The church will be open from 10am until 4pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 11.30am until 4pm on Sunday.

There will also be a Memorial Evensong at 6.30pm on Sunday.

Refreshments will be available throughout the festival and proceeds will go to the church.
