Police tackle ant-social behaviour in Brough Park in Leek

Police are carrying out an on-going operation to have extra patrols in a town's main park following a spate of ant-social behaviour.

The latest incident happened on Friday evening.

This involved a group of youngsters causing anti-social behaviour in Brough Park, Leek. It came at the time when Country and Western re-enactors had set up camp on the site for an event due to take place over the weekend.

A police spokesman told the Post & Times: "We were called to Brough Park on Friday night as 25 young people were causing anti -social behaviour.

"Organisers of the Country and Western event were worried for the equipment which was on site.

"Police attended and dealt with it quickly."

The police spokesman added: "There has been an on-going operation at Brough Park for two weeks.

This has seen extra patrols in the park. Alcohol has been confiscated from youngsters and if necessary this has been followed up with meetings with parents." For our Country and Western event report, see Pages 16 and 17.
