A TOTAL of 30 people enjoyed dining at an Indian restaurant recently while raising cash for charity.

Members of the St Andrew's Methodist Playgroup in Cheddleton held a fund-raising event at Abdul Spice in Stockwell Street, Leek, which helped raise funds for the child-care facility, which is a registered charity.

A member of the playgroup committee said: "We had a brilliant time and everyone enjoyed their food and the friendly atmosphere.

"It means a significant mount to our charity as without the support of local individuals and businesses, such as Abdul Spice, we would not be able to maintain the thriving nature of our playgroup.

"This term we are seeking to raise funds to purchase seating and soft furnishings to replace much of our existing worn out equipment.

"We hope to have it in operation in the New Year, much to the anticipated delight of the children.

"The curry night has made a significant contribution to this fund."
