SESSIONS on the traditional skill of hedge-laying are being offered by the Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership.

The hedge-laying course is running over two days this weekend on December 13 and 14, at Swinscoe, near Ashbourne.

The trainer will teach the Derbyshire style of hedge-laying. Booking is essential and the cost is £30 per person per course and is payable in advance.

Volunteers working for charities and the unemployed can take part for free.

The course will start at 9.30am on each day and finish around 3.30pm.

Participants are advised to wear suitable outdoor clothes and boots and bring waterproofs.

They are also asked to take their own packed lunch and drinks for the day.
