CARL Moulton, from the Congleton-based Boalloy club, won the Leek Half Marathon for the second year running on Sunday.
More than 230 athletes took part in conditions ideal for running.
Moulton completed the course in 1:17:10, just under a minute clear of Simon Myatt (Trentham). First home for Staffs Moorlands AC was Roger Grand in a time of 1:28:43, closely followed by Dave Bethell some 39 seconds later.
Michelle Buckle (Newcastle) won the ladies race in 1:31:18, 76 seconds clear of Gemma Barnett (Vale Royal).
Third lady was Rachael Brown (Staffordshire Moorlands) in a superb time of 1:34:21.
Other notable performances from local runners were achieved by Julian Brown, John Green, Jenny Day, Stan Winterton, Steve Corden, Jo Miles, Graeme Bell, Mark Rog, Marc Lucking, Mark Egerton, Adam Gayes, Lucinda Stone (course PB), Jonathan Windsor, and Charles Malkin (course PB).
Trentham RC won the men's team prize and South Cheshire Harriers – whose team included Leek-based Jenny Day – claimed the ladies prize.
Race director Adrian Northcott paid tribute to the efforts of all the volunteer helpers, whose duties included marking out the course, marshalling, handing out drinks and sponges, registering runners and recording results.
He also thanked F Ball and Co, Salt Brothers Builders of Leek, the St John Ambulance, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, Brough Park Leisure Centre and local scouts for their help.
