ATHLETES can help raise money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice by taking part in this year's Potters' Arf.

The popular annual half-marathon, which takes place in the Potteries this Sunday, has already attracted an entry of more than 1,600 runners.

Cheadle Running Club veteran Dave Thorley was the first runner from the Moorlands to complete last year's race, coming home 39th of the 1,320 finishers.

Ruth Watchcorn-Rice (Staffordshire Moorlands AC) was the first Moorlands lady to finish, taking 87th place, closely followed by Rebecca Harrison (Cheadle Running Club), who was 95th.

The race was won by Ben Gamble (Tipton Harriers).

Entries for this year's race close on Friday.
