Ascent adds to successful build programme across Staffordshire Moorlands.

Ascent, the joint partnership between Your Housing Group and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, has begun building nine new supported living apartments on Mackenzie Crescent, Cheadle, Staffordshire.

Kathy Cowell OBE DL, chairman of Your Housing Group, and Councillor Gill Burton, cabinet member for communities at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, welcomed local dignitaries to join them to celebrate this development beginning. The nine one and two bedroom apartments, which are being built by Seddon, will be for affordable rent and are being built on the site of former disused garages in the centre of Cheadle.

Kathy Cowell OBE DL, chairman of Your Housing Group, said: "This is an exciting project for Ascent and Your Housing Group.

"The Ascent programme isn't just building vital affordable housing to Staffordshire Moorlands, its building communities and improving existing facilities for years to come."

Councillor Burton added: "This is another milestone for the Ascent programme and it's great to see work starting on site. These apartments will have major benefits for residents helping them to live independent and fulfilling lives."

This is just one of the many build projects across Staffordshire Moorlands that forms part of Ascent programme.

Currently Ascent will build 304 new homes across the region by March 2015.

Councillor Sybil Ralphs, Leader of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council said: "The work being undertaken by Ascent is very much focussed on supporting local communities and is an example of how we are delivering on that aim."
