A CALL has been made for pupils who attended St Bartholomew’s School in Longnor between 1940 and 1955 to come forward.

A reunion is now being planned at the school for pupils who attended the educational establishment during these years, on Saturday, October 26, at 2pm.

The school first opened in 1872, and the front of the building, the school hall, remains the same. Extensions were built behind the hall in the early 60s, with a further addition in the late 90s.

The photograph above, taken in 1929, shows the double wooden gate entrance, which has since been replaced with a metal one. The wooden gate on the left has been removed and the wall continued to fill the space.

One of the organisers Teresa Riley said: “We are calling for all former pupils who attended the school between 1940 and 1955, including husbands, wives and partners to get in touch.

“Also we are asking people to please get out their old pictures and bring them along as the memories will add to make the occasion enjoyable.” Light refreshments will be available during the reunion afternoon.

If you are a former pupil of the school during these years and are interested in attending, please contact Teresa Riley on 01298 83495.
