A charity is gearing up to put on a large-scale fund-raising evening.
April 26 will be the 28th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Belarus.
The Chernobyl Children's Project (Endon/Stoke Group) will be lighting candles on Friday, April 25, in support of the people suffering the ongoing consequences of the explosion.
The candles will be lit at the Group's Annual Auction and Dinner Dance at the Upper House, Barlaston, on Friday, April 25. The evening will start at 7pm and tickets, priced at £30, can be purchased from Julie Gater on 07816 842322.
Group member Suzan Kerridge said: "We have some great auction items and hope that people will help us to raise funds for this year's groups of children who are in remission of cancer, and are invited to the UK for recuperative holidays."
Each year the Chernobyl Children's Project (Endon/Stoke Group) invites children for a recuperative holiday.
This year's first group is set to consist of five mothers and their young children, in May.
They will be staying for three weeks with local families.
Suzan added: "Time spent in an uncontaminated environment gives the impaired immune systems a boost of up to two years."
