THEME park lovers have bid farewell to a ride that has thrown thrill seekers around for 13 years.
Submission, the attraction that cost £2 million in 2001, was described as "an instrument of torture".
The ride subjected enthusiasts to 90 seconds of relentless spinning and inversion.
At the time it was the sixth white knuckle ride to be added to the Alton Towers Resort's collection and held 24 passengers each time.
But, sadly for some Submission, will be retired from the park before the start of the 2014 season.
An Alton Towers spokesman said: "The attraction, which was one of only a handful of its kind in the world, has dangled almost 6.9 million guests upside down over the years, so its rest is definitely well deserved."
The removal of the ride has been part of the park's long term development plan.
